YouTube

Hey everyone!

As you may or may not know I have a channel on Youube as well as this blog.At the beginning I was very unsure of myself and filming and didnt have a lot of knowledge of the filming, editing and the overall process of channel development. Overtime I have managed to figure out what kind of videos I want to make and ways I can make my channel the way I  want it to be.

I now have a regular upload day which is thursdays, sometimes stretching to fridays if there is a lot of editing required or if I need assistance with filming. I have found an editing software that I am able to use and that I am comfortable with and found ways of filming and discovered which camera and format create the best quality videos. My YouTube channel is opening me up to a world of opportunities such as the chance to potentially present on the red carpet at the BRIT awards and more.

I want to continue with this journey and I am so pleased to see my subscribers going up as it means you guys like my videos and want me to kep going and I am also beginning to see regular viewers and more people watching thal last year. I cant wait to see what this year brings with my channel and I'd love it if you all went and subscribed!

There has been times when it has been a bit bat sh*t crazy you know with all the Miley tweaking and coming in on wrecking balls and the Harlem Shake craze and horse meat and what not it's been pretty amazing too! So many incredible things have happened this year and it's so so good to actually look back and remeniss on all the things that have been amazing. 2013 has been an emotional roller coaster. Having to deal with anxiety and going through some of the worst times with it, exams and stuff it has also been amazing, I found my dearest friends, they found a cure for my brother, music has been incredible and I've finally began to start to find my true passions and what I wanted to persue.

To be able to look back here is 50 things that were great about 2013:

Okay.. I only thought of like 43 but who cares. Everyone will have something special that happened that puts a smile on their face and when. They think back that year will be amazing.

I am really looking forward to seeing what 2014 has to bring and annoyingly I bet it will go even quicker than 2013! I want to carry on blogging and youtubing and I can't wait for SiTC this year I already have my pass woo! Hopefully see you all there!
Here are my 3 resolutions for this year:
1. Get fitter & more healthy!
2. Lose a bit of weight (make me more healthy)
3. Beat anxiety a bit more and just generally be positive and happy! :)

Hope you all had a fantastic New Year! I love you all to pieces and let's see what this year brings! Welcome 2014!

Media - Why so pressuring?

Hey everyone!

Today I thought I'd blog about a pretty heavy subject after I overheard *yes I was nosey* a conversation between two people on this subject and it really struck on a nerve on how important this subject is and the way it is so different to so many different individuals. It also hits on quite big topics which can be very sensetive and I experienced this during this conversation (I will fill you in on this now.)

So... the other day I was sat doing some catchup coursework when I heard a teacher and a younger pupil talking she was very upset because she was extremely insecure and hating herself because she din't look like all the celebrities and the models you see in magazines and fashion campaigns and this really got me thinking listening to the teacher talking to her explaining how a lot of it isnt real and this gave me a really big kick up the arse about something I need to blog and do a video on so whether you are feeling the same as the young girl, seeking help or just a regulary reader and have found this subject interesting I hope there is something for you or even if it helps one person out there... I'll be happy :)
What is media?
Media is any form of electric promotion visual image showing something to the public. It can be many things such as:
  • The Internet
  • Magazines
  • Campaigns
  • Shop Windows
  • Billboards
  • Films
  • TV Programs
  • and so on...
These things are all great and have so many positive uses BUT there is one very big problem that comes with all this brand new technology that we have and the society that we are trying to deal with and what a lot of people ar trying to promote as 'The way people should and shouldn't look' which is wrong on so many levels. This is known as Media Pressure. It can be found on all of those listed above along with many other things such as:
  • The Internet
  • Magazines
  • Campaigns
  • Shop Windows
  • Billboards
  • Films
  • TV Programs
  • Catwalks
  • In Social Surroundings.
It can be found in so many places it's almost impossible to escape from but.. There is something that you have to remember.
NONE of it.. Is real!
Remember that saying? 'Don't believe everything you read online?' Well... Don't believe everything you see either because of this little device called Photoshop.

Photoshop has many good uses for some media for changing people to the extent where they don't even look like themselves anymore is not a good use! Sometimes it can be very noticeable on a celebrity when they don't appear as they normally do. They can do this to things such as:
  • Skin
  • Teeth
  • Extra Makeup
  • Colour Enhancing
  • Clothes
  • and the main one... their weight.
This I think is awful because it gives such a bad view to girls and young people in general because it makes them feel that they need to be 'as skinny as..' and things like that leading to things such as depression and eating disorders and that is unacceptable.

Recently there was an issue that Victoria's Secret accidentally posted the unedited version of their photo shoot and the differences between the original pictures and the new edited ones were ridiculous! All the lines and stretches on the son has been edited, they had cut chunks out of their waists and legs and used a too to enhance the boobs and bum and I don't see the reason why?! All the models are so beautiful and so are all the celebrities in magazines so why do they do it?!

Basically the objective of this was to say don't think that because you don't look like the people that have been all photoshopped DON'T WORRY because it's not real! You YOURSELF are beautiful! Eat that bit of chocolate! Wear that shorter skirt you want to wear! Go for it! Because no matter what you see or hear from all these things it's not real at all! It's the magic of a computer software program!

You are BEAUTIFUl. You don't need all that.

I leave you with a quote from one of the lost beautiful women in the world Miss Jennifer Lawrence who is one of my absolute idols!

Be confident because you deserve to be.

lots of love

Back To School

Hey everyone!
Today I thought I'd blog about something that's happened a lot recently to people all over the world and that is... going back to school.
It may be some people are going from, primary school to secondary school, from secondary school to college, college to university or university to work who knows but everyone has the same things in common. You are all starting a new beginning whether its just a new year group such as year 9 to year 10 every year brings something new and it tends to go by very quickly as I have experienced through out secondary school, I am in my last year at the moment and everything is already flying by and the thought of GCSEs are terrifying but very soon they will be over. Oh! and people are already chin wagging about prom in lessons... guess who not gonna have a date cause they are forever alone? That's correct. me. Well enough dwelling on things that aren't happening and lets get on with it. On my Twitter and Facebook I have been asked many questions about school life and general things to get through school and in this blog I am going to answer them the best that I can.

Q. What's the best way to ease back to school/new school nerves?
Beating the nerves is very easy if you know how. Having and suffering from anxiety along with many others I have managed to find some good ways to stop anxiousness and to find ways to help relax back into routine and back into the school swing or wherever you may be heading. 1. Stay with friends and be around the people that make you happy. Being with friends and having fun is always the best way to beat any nerves and uncertainty about something and will take your mind off the fact you are anxious. 2. Think positively and of things you are looking forward too. Thinking of things you are looking forward to helps take the pressure off things you may not be looking forward too much and gives you a positive mind, in my case seeing Conor Maynard in a few weeks.. Conor I love you, marry me okay?

 Q. How can I stay organised?
Staying organised is something a lot of people struggle to do including myself but I am slowly learning a few bits and bobs to help keep organised and I am going to share them with you guys and hope that they work! 1. Do all work set on the night you get it! I know this is very hard with the world of YouTube as a distraction and hot tumblr boys but I promise you it does work, it loosens the work load and doesn't let it all pile up on you. Another tip is 2. Keep paper in folder and any work set that you need to hand in and keep books in a separate area. Keep all school work together and in a clean and separate place to everything else to ensure you wont lose or ruin anything and keep everything together you need to study.

Q. I get teased about the way I look at school what should I do?
The amount of stuff I see about this phenomenal and in my mind unacceptable. Why anyone should be teased about the way they look is beyond me especially at school. I mean come on people it school right? You're here to learn and get a good education to set a sturdy foundation for your future and to have fun with friends not to have to deal with loads of bitches and to impress people right? So my piece of advice is ignore all the idiots that are picking on you for your looks because you are beautiful and I'll tell you now, you'll be the one with an amazing job living in a mansion and not working on a stripper pole, so next time someone is a bitch to you about something like that just ignore them and remember how amazing you are how silly they are to have to stoop to that level at school for goodness sake its just silly of them to do right? Okay Niamh calm down... Sorry bitchy people put me in rage haha.

Q. Is it easier going to a mixed or single sex school?
There is very mixed feelings about both single sex schools and mixed schools as they both have their pros and cons. So I thought I'd make pro's and cons lists. Enjoy :)

Single Sex School:
. PROS
. Not having to look good cause no boys and its just school.
. Nothing to overly distract you.
. No boy-girl drama.
. You are able to vocal about how annoyed you are with your period.
. No worry about accidentally walking into boys toilets.

.CONS
. Everyone's bitchy.
. Girl drama.. worse than boy drama.
. Arugments.
. Groups, cliques and 'incrowds'.
. People say why look good and then judge you anyway which is a lot of crap.

Mixed School:
. PROS
. Not as much bitchiness.
. You can have your boy mates with you.
. Not so many group issues and incrowds.
. Not judge on how you look as much.

. CONS
. Boys could be distracting.
. Boy - girl drama and awkward boyfriends fights.
. Cant be vocal about how annoyed you are at your period.
. Could accidentally walk into boys toilets... awkward.

Hop you enjoyed this blog guys and that it gives a few tips on school survival if this does well I will definitely do more blogs like this in the future! Hope you liked it! :)
